March 30, 2012

Middleton Parents, Students, and Sponsors:

We are nearing the end of the robotics season with and FRC tournament next week and the World Championships at the end of April.  However, we still need to think about fund raising for next year and have several community outreach activities scheduled.

The following are the topics that will be cover in this email:

1.       SMTA Meeting – March 27, 2012 at 7-8pm

2.       FRC Tournament – March 29-31, 2012

3.       FTC Practice Scrimage at Glazer Children’s Museum – April 7, 2012

4.       ASME Meeting at Middleton – April 24, 2012

 ————————————————

1.       SMTA Meeting – We have been invited to attend the SMTA meeting on March 27, 2012 at 7-8pm to show off our winning robots. SMTA is an engineering society that was one of our sponsors this year.  The meeting will be at the Young-Rainey STAR Center, 7887 Bryan Dairy Road, Largo.  Please let me know if you will be able to attend. Given the short notice, this will be an unofficial meeting and we will need individual parents to take the students to the meeting.

2.       FRC Tournament – Big event next week.  The FRC team will be traveling to Boca Raton on Wednesday to attend the South Florida FRC Regional Qualifier.  Information about the event can be found on the following website: http://firstinflorida.com/.  Good luck to the FRC team.

3.       FTC Practice Scrimage at Glazer Children’s Museum – There is a Jr. FLL event at the Glazer Children’s Museum on April 7, 2012 starting at 9am.  I will be setting up our FTC practice field at the event so that we can run some scrimage matches against other teams before we go to the World Championships.

4.       ASME Meeting at Middleton – Middleton High School will be hosting an ASME meeting on April 24, 2012 at 5pm.  This is another great opportunity for us to reach out to the local engineering community.  It would be great if we had representatives from each of the teams at the meeting.
