FIRST LEGO League
Tune Up Tampa is an annual FIRST LEGO League Workshop hosted and run by Middleton Robotics. The workshop brings together teams, judges, referees, and experts to provide teams, both rookie and veteran, with insight and knowledge on the current season and general FIRST LEGO League information. The workshop is also the location for volunteer judge and referee training. The workshop is held in late September to allow teams to read the current challenge and then compile their questions for our experts.
Minotaur Madness is the annual FIRST LEGO League Practice tournament for Hillsborough County. The tournament is hosted and run by Middleton Robotics. Due to the popularity in recent years and the number of teams who attend, we now split the teams and run 2 tournaments simultaneously. The practice tournaments are run in accordance to FIRST rules and the experience the teams get is that of a regular tournament with judges, referees, trophies, and fun.
Middleton Build-It Day is our annual FIRST LEGO League mission setup kits assembly. We hold this event shortly after game release and build and assemble all of the mission flied kits for the FIRST LEGO League West Florida Region. This includes all missions sets used at practice and qualifying tournaments as well as the Regional Championship.
Mentors. Middleton Robotics students also serve FIRST LEGO League teams as student mentors. In this capacity they assist the adults with all aspects of the game challenge. Students spend many hours working with these teams ensuring they understand the challenge and are prepared to compete at tournaments.
The FIRST LEGO League Core Values are the cornerstones of the program. They are among the fundamental elements that distinguish FIRST LEGO League from other programs of its kind. By embracing the Core Values, participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.
