Newsletter #8 — Middleton High School Robotics Club

October 26, 2011

Middleton Parents, Students, and Sponsors:

This Newsletter is primarily focused on important dates.  Please read this email because it has a lot of information about tournament dates and community outreach opportunities.  However, before I tell you about many of our important dates, I would first like to thank everyone for making last Saturday a very successful FTC Build It Day at Middleton.  We had a total of 10 teams from as far away as Miami and Orlando attend the event. Many of the teams were rookie teams and very appreciative of the help our students gave them throughout the day.

The following are the topics that will be cover in this email:

1.       FTC Tournament Dates
2.       Volunteer to Help FLL Tournaments
3.       Other Community Outreach Events
4.       FRC Fund Raising Update

2.       Volunteer to Help FLL Tournaments – Rich Berglund the coach of our 3846 also organizes many of the FLL tournaments in the Tampa area.  This is an opportunity for our students to help the FLL organization with their tournaments.  I am looking for volunteers from the robotics club that would like to help at the following FLL events:
December 17, 2011 – FLL Qualifying Tournament at UACDC Community Center in Tampa
February 4, 2011 – FLL Regional Tournament at UACDC Community Center in Tampa

————————————————

3.       Other Community Outreach Events – Alison Roth has organized an opportunity for us to present at their Boy Scout Round Table on November 10, 2011.  I will provide an address and time in the coming weeks.  We would like to have several team members and robots at the event.  Please let me know if you can participate.

4.       FRC Fund Raising Update – The NASA FRC grant application has been completed and submitted.  A special thank you to Marco Schoener for completing the application.   Getting this grant will be a big boost to the FRC funding needs.  We are keeping our fingers crossed.
